Andrew Niesen is an Atlanta, Ga based photographer. His background in newspaper photography has allowed him to photograph diverse subjects, including ice fishermen, female wrestlers, Mississippi River barge workers and Down Syndrome. His work has appeared in The London Times, The Christian Science Monitor, the New York Times, The Los Angeles Times and The Miami Herald, among others. While he enjoys photographing a diverse range of subjects, Andrew has particular interest in Energy, Urban Planning, Environment, and Transportation related issues. He received his bachelor's degrees in photojournalism and anthropology from the University of Missouri. His work has received numerous awards, including awards from the William Randolph Hearst Foundation and the National Press Photographers Association; he is also an Eagle Scout. His wife, Rachel LaCour Niesen, is also a photojournalist with a passion for people and documentary photography. Her work may be viewed at www.rachel-lacour-niesen.com. Besides spending time with his wife, Andrew can be found studying German, kayaking, travelling, gazing at aircraft and driving his Volkswagen.
